Horn Book Guide Reviews 2011 Fall
The volumes in this readable series are chock-full of trivia about the title figures. Section headings help organize the information (and will help readers navigate the crowded spreads) while sidebars provide additional information. Each title's "A Day in the Life" section and "Do You Have What It Takes?" personality quiz may engage readers. The many photographs are generally relevant. Reading list. Glos., ind. Gr 4-6--While it is important for information to be presented in a way that is accessible and appealing to children, there is a danger of sensory overload if the layout of a book is too frenetic. One major problem with this series (whose subjects are unrelated, besides the fact that they are famous) is that the many sidebars, pictures, and boxes breaking up the texts become distracting and confusing. Consequently, these books are best suited for casual browsing.
