School Library Journal Reviews 1999 March
Gr 3-5-Strange things are happening in Kid Caramel's hometown. Animals are disappearing from homes, zoos, and schools, and a hairy creature is seen roaming the streets at night, stealing uncooked meat from barbecues and sacks of food from shoppers. With his sidekick, Earnie, and a Scottish exchange student, the African-American boy sets out to solve the mystery. Could it possibly be a werewolf? Using his photographic memory and deductive talents, Kid tracks down the culprit. This is a fast-paced title that will be enjoyed by fans of David Adler's Cam Jansen (Viking), Donald Sobol's Encyclopedia Brown, and James Howe's Sebastian Barth (Atheneum).-Terrie Dorio, Santa Monica Public Library, CA Copyright 1999 School Library Journal Reviews
