Reviews for James and the Giant Peach

Horn Book Guide Reviews 1996
The flat, humdrum text squeezes all the life out of Dahl's story about James's journey inside the giant peach. Even Lane Smith's paintings, for all their tongue-in-cheek gruesomeness, fail to convey the reckless spirit of the adventure. See the film for more action. Better yet, have a real treat: reread the original book. Copyright 1998 Horn Book Guide Reviews
