Reviews for Pet Store Subtraction

School Library Journal Reviews 2006 December

K-Gr 2 These titles introduce basic math concepts through situations that children will relate to. In Subtraction , a pet store worker must figure out how many animals and supplies have sold to see what she needs to order. In Shape Story , a child is fascinated with the tangrams her grandfather creates while telling her a story. Graphs features a class trip to the zoo, where the children track what they observe through graphs and charts. Each spread has a paragraph or two of simple text facing a full-color photograph. Ideal for demonstrating mathematical skills in real-life settings, these books are sure to appeal to young learners. However, their small size might make them difficult to share with a group.
