Laurie Halse Anderson is the author of inspired books for children of all ages. Her novel Speak was a 1999 National Book Award finalist. She is also the author of the highly acclaimed novel Fever 1793 and the Wild At Heart series, as well as many picture books, including Ndito Runs, Turkey Pox, No Time for Mother's Day, and most recently, The Big Cheese of Third Street. Laurie is also a descendant of the heroine Sarah Josepha Hale, and like her ancestor, is a long-time proponent of Thanksgiving feasts. The author lives in Ambler, Pennsylvania, with her two teenage daughters.
